Cooper at Bat

Since Riley and Cooper both play ball on the same night, Clyde and I divide up...he takes Camdyn and goes to one game and I take Rowyn and go to the other. Tonight Rowyn and I went to Cooper's game. He did a great job, went three for three.

He just had a physical the other day, he's 52" tall and weighs 65.5 lbs. The physician said his BMI is 82% and that at 85% they start to discuss diet issues. Really? Look at the kid, he can barely keep his pants up. I'd say he's solid, but certainly not borderline overweight.

Wonder if he had to go potty? :P

Pork Chops on the Grill

For Father's Day I made 'Pork Chops on the Grill' cupcakes, an idea inspired by Family Fun magazine. They are brownie cupcakes with frosting piped to be grill slats, orange sprinkles, caramels with a cream center shaped into pork chops, and additional frosting piped on them.

Reconciliation

Last night, we had the usual chaos getting the kids to bed. It was late, everyone was overtired, including mom and dad.

I had done laundry that day, so Riley had several piles of clothes to put away. I told her I wasn't happy she hadn't gotten them put away and that if she didn't get them done tomorrow, she'd be grounded. With that, she told me her dad had already grounded her.

Why did he ground you, Riley?

Because I was fooling around in the car and wasn't listening to him.

Didn't you just go to Reconciliation today for CCD?

Yeah, but they just absolve you and all I had to do was say a Hail Mary.

Yes, but you did know not listening to your parents is a sin, right?

I know, Mom, but don't blame me...blame Adam and Eve, it's their fault I sin.

Rowyn's 2nd Birthday

We celebrated Rowyn's 2nd birthday this past weekend, I can't believe two years have gone by already. We had pork, pineapple, green pepper, and onion kabobs on the grill, peas, baked potatoes, and fresh blackberries and strawberries (which are all over her face!). She even sang along with us with her own little rendition of 'Happy Birthday'.

It was officially H.O.T. this weekend, so the kids played in the sprinkler and their make shift cooling tub. The neighbor kids came down to play and brought with them arm fulls of water guns and squirters. It was a great weekend, the kind I love, full of family and friends, no schedules, nowhere we had to be.

Robo Mom

I am beginning to think Roto Rooter should hire Lumpy for advertising. She can clog the toilet and they can go in and attempt to unclog it...I'm sure she'll utilize a plethora of different objects and make it quite a testimony to their ability. Sounds like the makings of a great commercial. I bring this up, because she's been at it again, remember HERE and HERE? Well, recently she's taken it to an all new level.

I had just gotten to work when my Mom called, she was babysitting at my house, Lumpy had clogged the toilet yet again. In an effort to get it cleaned up before the baby decided to play in it, my mom slipped and fell on the wet tile floor of the bathroom. She told me she was quite certain she had fractured her arm. Clyde was working a half-hour out of town, so he rushed home. My Dad drove out to my house to help my Mom and eventually drive her to Acute Care. After several xrays, the doctor in Acute Care called in an orthopedic surgeon. Not only had she broken both her radius and ulna, but she would need surgery to correct their placement.

My dad refers to it as her gun sight, I think it looks like part of an old typewriter. Unfortunately, she's stuck with it for 8 weeks...and yes, she's right-handed.

I'm sorry, Mom. I wish I could fast-forward and have it all done and over with. The only good thing that has come out of this, is that it has forced you to actually sit down and relax...and you've gotten quite proficient at putting your eyeliner on with your left hand. ;)

We've been working feverishly to update our kitchen. We've finally finished and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Okay, so not really. This would be my D.R.E.A.M kitchen. I love it...the cabinets, the natural light, the floors, the wall color, the back splash. *sigh*

Riley's First Holy Communion

Riley made her First Holy Communion today. She was beautiful and her Mommy and Daddy were very proud of her.

We had to do our family picture in two parts...the one with Daddy turned out so much better. I wish I were Photoshop savvy, I could probably put together a halfway decent picture if I could cut and paste.
