We're off!

We're back from our first ever family trip to Disney World.
When they say it's magical there, they aren't lying.
It was amazing!

We flew out of Moline on Wednesday.
It was my kids' first airplane ride and they were so excited!

The check in process is much more detailed than it used to be.
Stupid terrorists.
My mom was randomly chosen for an extra security check.
They scanned her and tested her fingers to be sure she had no bomb making residue.
Seriously.

Rowyn was a little nervous about take off.
The other kids loved it.
I was a wreck.
Sweating, tensing, heart palpitations.
My entire family was on that plane and in the hand's of a pilot.
I didn't like feeling helpless.

Once we were in the air, Rowyn settled down and was mesmerized by what she saw out the window.

It wasn't long and she was back to her sassy self.

The shuttle service picked us up at the airport and we had to laugh that the car seat was essentially in the trunk of the van, back next to the luggage.
Given her crabbiness by this point, it was the perfect spot for her.

Finally we arrived at Shades of Green, an armed forces recreation center located right on Disney property.  We were allowed to stay there because my dad is a disabled veteran.

It was a beautiful resort and not crowded, like some of the other Disney resorts we saw.  There were two pools, six different places to eat, a PX or exchange store, a spa, a fitness center, tennis courts, and two PGA championship golf courses.

Our first night, we headed to Evergreens, which was a restaurant/bar/arcade.  The kids unwound playing games and winning tickets.

Mommy had a Cabernet in a fancy plastic cup.

Tomorrow, we're off to the Magic Kingdom!
