Thanksgiving 2009

Happy Thanksgiving from ours to yours!

Four reasons to be thankful every.single.day.

The pilgrim hats we made from Family Fun Magazine.

...and how about the outtakes?

Riley and Camdyn came home with a garbage can lid full of little pine cones...I believe they were borrowed from the neighbors yard. Anyway, I didn't want them to go to waste, so several glue gun burns later and I made this pine cone wreath.

I found THIS gum drop wreath over at A Pretty Cool Life and I am debating on attempting one myself. The blisters on my fingers scream no, but the cuteness factor may win this one.

Anthropologie

While shopping for Christmas Latte bowls at Anthropologie, I happened upon clothing...for kids. They now sell clothing for kids. Oh, Lawdy, they have found my weakness. I have added these two to my shopping bag in hopes that the powers that be at Anthropologie think that Erin Kay really needs them and send them to me in thanks for frequenting their online site...and putting their hit counter through the roof.

I am inspired by THIS, she was inspired by Anthropologie.

Hats and Etsy

I'd like something like this from kolonbeanie for Rowyn.

Propstoyou could sell me just about anything with that sweet little face. Look at those cheeks, those lips...oh, my aching uterus.
Focus on the hat people...cute, right?!

What little boy wouldn't love this hat by Babbidgepatch?

I *heart* this hat by citefuzz

This, however, has all the makings of a regretsy post. Chopping of a doll's head does not make for a nice prop.

Cissysdollfashions

Yes, more Etsy shopping. I found THIS in my favorites, as well. It's a handmade wooden school desk for American Girl dolls (or stuffed animals, etc)...isn't it adorable?! It's made in Runnells, Iowa, which I believe to be near Des Moines. Anyway, I love it. I know Riley would too, she's always playing school. I can imagine her with her whiteboard out and one of these in every color lined up just like her own little classroom. I'm quite sure my husband would have me committed, but I'm sure I could sneak one in without him even noticing it. ;)

They were selling for $18 and an additional $8 for shipping (I'd wish I knew someone in Des Moines, I'd have them pick it up!) I haven't seen anymore listed, but I'm guessing you could convo her and see if you could order one.

Dresses

I have the Shabby Apple bookmarked, because I love about everything in their store. No really, check them out.

This 'canary' dress and the 'queen of hearts' dress below are two of my favorites.

Matilda Jane, another bookmark and more dresses I *heart*. I think I want to be a trunk keeper, just so I can buy the stuff locally. Although, that could easily get out of control, as I have no self control. The girls would have closets chock-full of lovelies and I'd have one less kidney.

I also have an obscene amount of favorites on my Etsy account, like THIS (see pic below) and THIS. There are some seriously brilliant, crafty women on there! When I win the lottery, I will buy one of each. Promise.

Happy 40th Anniversary Sesame Street!

Happy 40th Anniversary Sesame Street!

Look what Bakerella made in honor. Seriously, does it get any cuter?

Fun in the leaves

The kids...very proud of their gigantic pile of leaves! Camdyn is clearly a superstar.

I tossed Rowyn in the leaves...and she just about tossed her cookies.

Goodwill Treasures

Aren't they cute? Mommy quail and her baby were some of my Goodwill finds this week. Actually everything in the photo was from Goodwill!

Riley was home sick all week with H1N1, poor girl just wanted to go back to school. To keep her occupied, we did a lot of crafts. We made the tissue paper flowers in this picture and the twine ball. Well, she only supervised the twine ball since I used the hot glue gun. She also did a report for me on Golden Retrievers, I'm not sure if she was trying to send a subtle hint or what...lol.

Fruity Gobbler

Family Fun always has the neatest ideas, this is no different. The kids would have a blast making it, I may lose my mind by the end, but what a cute centerpiece it would make.

Martha has some cute leaf pillows with printable pdf that I'd like to try too, without the kids though.

Clown Shoes

Rowyn modeling Aunt Meghan's clown shoes Osiris.

Riley is home sick, poor kid is miserable. It seems to be the in thing lately...if it's not one, it's the other. I do have to say she and Cooper both had fantastic conferences, we are very proud of both of them. Since Cooper's was delayed until Monday during lunch, I had to take the two girls with me. Watching Camdyn in a classroom, was like watching Hammy in Over the Hedge.

Halloween 2009

Hoppy Halloween

Some bunny was nervous about the whole Trick-or-Treating thing. However, after the first house, she was quite fond of it and had a death grip on her candy bag.

'Clyde the Glide' in Clyde's old football gear, Little Rabbit Foo Foo, the kitty, and Sully the Monster. After about the 10th house, Sully monster popped a squat on the curb and was all set to sit and eat her Cheetos she'd gotten, she was over trick or treating.

Quilts

I'm crushing right now on quilts. I'm so completely jealous of women that can make them, especially the really intricate ones. In high school we had the choice of cooking class or sewing...guess which one I chose. Oh what I wouldn't give for a house full of quilts. Quilts of different colors, sizes, textures, styles. I would have fall quilts, winter quilts, etc, etc.

I love the look of rag quilts and it appears they are easier to make than a regular quilt, so I'm going to set my mind to it and *try* and make a rag quilt. There seem to be millions of tutorials to make one, so I'm going to have to sift through and see which one seems easiest (or makes the most sense for this non-sewer).

I remember when I was little, the room we used to meet in for girl scouts at Nativity school was also used by a quilt club. I remember seeing the little old ladies sitting around a huge table quilting and chit chatting. I need to find a quilt club! Anyone else want to join?

The Broom

On Tuesday, I paid Camdyn a quarter to sweep the front sidewalk.

On Wednesday, the broom was missing.

I looked in the yard, I searched the garage, I combed the house. No broom. Camdyn, swore she had no idea where it went.

That afternoon, I left for work. While driving, I heard a thump on the roof of the car. I glanced in the rearview mirror only to see a broom tumbling behind me. My broom. Found it. Lumpy had apparently decided to store it on the luggage rack of the Expedition and after reaching 45 mph, it couldn't hold on any longer. Oh, Lump.

Thank God no one was behind me.

When telling the story to Riley, she wanted to know if I'm sure it was our broom. She was concerned I'd just killed a witch...

Playing

...the calm before the storm.

And yes, I'm one of those moms that likes to match their kids. :P

At this point, Rowyn moves in and attempts to grab the horse.

S'mores in the oven

I made indoor s'mores today for the kids when they got home from school. I found the recipe online (I can't for the life of me find where, so if it is yours, I apologize!).

Honey Teddy Grahams
Large Marshmallows
Chocolate Chips

375 oven
Line cupcake pan with the liners, sprinkle in a few teddy grahams.
Add marshmallow, then a few chocolate chips, and finish up with a few more Teddy Grahams.
Bake 5-6 minutes or until marshmallows are golden brown.
Allow to cool for a few minutes and dig in!
They'll need spoons, they're ooey, gooey, good!

Mummy Dogs

Tonight we made Mummy Dogs with Crescent Rolls and turkey dogs. They were fun to make and the kids thought they were awesome!

Riley added ketchup blood on hers.

Cooper preserved his in barbeque sauce.

Lumpy tore his bandages off and promptly gobbled him up.

Camdyn: A Photo Shoot

I took a few pictures of Rowyn today, she was in such a good mood, I didn't want it to go to waste. While taking pictures, Camdyn had been playing with Cooper's cars and saw that she was missing out on the action. She announced she wanted her picture taken too.

Of course, honey. Smile pretty for Mommy.

...so entertaining. I can hardly wait to see her first set of school pictures.
