Floors and Fun

 More house progress.
The in-floor heat tubes are set and ready for concrete on top.

Rowyn and her neighbor friend, Nathan, watched all the action.

 Clyde working.
More proof it happens from time to time. ;)

All concrete pumped through a giant concrete pump truck.

It was a HOT day out.
Rowyn decided Polly Pockets and Barbie's in the shade were much more interesting than concrete trucks.

Catching up on my Instagram...

We hung out with friends at a neighbor's bar.
Looks like the little puppy was begging for a cold one. Ha!

Last Saturday we went out to eat with two other couples.
Someone looks grumpy.
It's a date night.  Put on a happy face...or at least fake one.  Geez.

Afterwards, we stopped at the Asbury Eagle's Club.
Good times.
Maybe too good.
It took me two days to recover.
But we were in great company, so it was all worth it.
Have I mentioned we have the BEST neighbors?

The view from my daily walk.
No, not through the cornfield, but next to it.
Have you ever tried running through a cornfield?
It hurts!

Rowyn started preschool this week.  She had a blast and clearly it wore her out!

This was her first homework assignment.
She rocked it!
I love all the detail she added and all the colors she used.
I think Clyde looks a little like Fred Flintstone.Ha!

Preschool 2012

Today is Rowyn's first day of preschool.
She must have asked me a dozen times if it was time to go yet.  I guess it is safe to say she is excited.
Yesterday at her open house, her teachers introduced themselves to her.
She looked up at me with fearful eyes and whispered,
"But, I don't even know how to read."
When I told her teachers what she said, they reassured her and told her neither do the other kids and that is why they are there.

We also talked briefly about her haircut and moving.

School 2012

The house is slowly coming along.
The walls were poured yesterday.
Proof that sometimes he does work. ;)

I think it must be a right of passage in my house to give yourself a haircut.

Her hair is in a braid in the back, but you can see the hack job she did to the side of her head.

Don't buy the pouty lip, she was amused with herself.
Naughty.

First day of school 2012.
5th grade, 4th grade, and 1st grade.

Of course, Lump, throw in a goofy face.

Little hair chopper wanted in on the picture.
Preschool doesn't start until next week for her.
And cue Lumpy with yet another face.

4th grader with a terrible hair cut.
We went to Sport Cuts since we had a free coupon.  The girl hacked his hair...and it's crooked in front.
We're never going there again.
Perhaps my little hair chopper should have cut his hair instead?
Anyway, my stylist is going to fix it on Thursday.

1st grader.

5th grader.

Preschooler.

Thank God school started, I'm not sure I couldn't handle much more of this.  Fighting.  Constantly.

Rowyn saw that her buddies Camden and Creighton were headed off to Kindergarten and she was meltdown city. She wanted to go with in the worst way.
Next year Digs, next year.

I can't wait to hear how the first day went!
I'm off to play with Rowyn who is deathly bored already.

Concrete and Rebar

We have floors going in, finally!
We received the amended plans last week from the engineer, so we've got the go ahead now.

Prepping the sport court for indoor heat and the rubber membrane to keep the water out.

One of the workers had quite the interesting hood ornament.
My mom and I were joking that Clyde is the general contractor and my dad is the General.  He's been out every day "overseeing".

Lots of rebar.  Lots of concrete.

Today they will put the forms up for the walls.
Progress!

St. Louis

We recently drove to St. Louis to visit my brother and his wife.  My parents and sister, Meghan, went as well.

Some children were less thrilled about the six hour drive than others.

And thank God for movies in the car.

Instead of eating fast food for lunch, we stopped at a rest stop and had a picnic with stuff we brought from home.  The rest stop had a playground, so the kids were able to stretch and wear off a little energy.

At some point, I think the long ride started to get to Rowyn.  She was delirious, I think. Ha!

We finally got to St. Louis after what seemed like endless road construction and after checking in at our hotel, we headed over to my brother's house.
He and his wife just bought it, it was a new construction, so they were able to pick out upgrades and such.
It's a beautiful home and we're so happy for them!
Now they need to start having some babies to fill up all those bedrooms! ;)

**************************************

The next day, we all headed over to the St. Louis Science Center.

Cooper learned to operate a train using binary code.

This had balls traveling through it, very cool.

The speed of the balls was run by a giant hamster wheel at the bottom.  Daddy helped Rowyn get it started.

Rowyn was very interested in the giant, moving T Rex.
There was a whole archaeology room where the kids were able to dig for dinosaur bones.

The science center has a sky walk that goes over I64. Riley liked the radar detector and clocking speeders.

My only child who would stand in front of the giant penny.  The rest were not cooperating.  Imagine that.
Part of the engineering area was constructing the arch.
A fun group effort.
Excuse my blurry photo.

The top floor at our hotel held an executive suite.  They had food/snacks in the morning, noon, and evening.
We went up for drinks and desserts that night.
Of course, my youngest sister provided the comic relief...nice smile, Megs.

Never a dull moment when Meghan is with you.
I laughed so hard I cried.
Sunday morning, we went to brunch at Jilly's Cupcake Bar and Cafe.  They were on Cupcake Wars and won!  The cupcakes they had were huge...and delicious!
I seriously cannot believe how much I ate.
Like three trips to the buffet...two of which were strictly for desserts.

We had a great trip.
Short, but fun...well, except for the sick kid Saturday night.
I don't know what it is about St. Louis, one of my kids always has to get sick.
Must be because of all the Cardinal/Rams crap they are subjected to. ;)
